Injury Update

Andrew Miller plans to continue pitching due to a chip fracture of the pisiform bone in his glove hand. That is some good news for the Yankees. That could play a factor in his performance in the future. 

However Bryan Mitchell's MRI exam from last night brought some bad news having a fractured sesamoid bone in his toe. It is reported that he will be out for at least 3 months. It is still possible to play with a toe fracture, but it's not recommended. It is said by some that there isn't much you can really do for a fractured toe. Only time and rest can determine when he will be back.

New York's pitchers dazzle in today's match against the Atlanta Braves shutting them down 2-0. The Yankees offense was also alive collecting 10 hits but failing to convert into runs. All together New York is looking better as opening day looms.  

Jacoby Ellsbury meeting one of his fans from last week. This is what I love to see when it comes to these players. When there not on the job or busy they like to give back to there community.

Most people who aren't a fan of the Yankees think that they are selfish players who cheat all the time. Sometimes you just have to look deeper into who they are. They made themselves great because of who they were, the hard work they put in to get to where they are now. This picture of above shows a lot about who the Yankees really are.

Phillies game delayed, Pittsburgh game still on.

New York will be playing split spring training games today against Philly and Pittsburgh. The Philly game is currently on a rain delay. Tanaka gets the start against the Phillies and CC gets the mound against the Pirates.

Tanaka still isn't locked in for the Opening day start. Hopefully today's performance will help Girardi make his final decision, well thats if the rain doesn't spoil is last chance before the season begins.

Yankees score 2 in the 8th and win 3-2 over the Tigers.

Ivan Nova and CC Sabathia are in discussion for who will claim the Yankees fifth rotation spot. As of yesterday Nova most certainly did not help is case in claiming that spot, giving up six runs in only 4 2/3 innings in there loss to the Orioles. 

It's obviously been tough on these two pitchers. They are giving it there all and still not getting the results they want. In a way CC has been giving a better performance lately. I believe CC deserves the spot on the rotation. Ivan just hasn't been the best lately. We will find out in the next few days.

Masahiro Tanaka is still on track to start on opening day at Yankee Stadium. He has been having a lot of ups and downs since he started with New York. He has a lot of work cut out for him but he does deserve to start opening day that's for sure. Masahiro is a great pitcher, he just hasn't really found his groove yet. I believe he will find it this season and I do think he will play one of the big parts in getting the Yankees to the post season.

A-Rod Planning to Retire in 2017

          This just in, Alex Rodriguez announced that he plans on retiring after his contract expires in 2017. Alex has had one crazy career and he is arguably one of the best of his time. Sometimes you will just have to look past his mistakes and look too the future. He's accomplished a great deal since he started playing.

         Something I found interesting about all the news about A-Rod the past few days was, the MLB website came up with seven jobs that would be great for Alex Rodriguez after he retires. The list even included that he could be a model or a video game magnate. There is really no point for him to even have another job anytime soon. He has made so much money over the years. There is really no need. I could see him being a baseball scout one day, all the other job choices seemed a little off. 

Anyone else miss this guy always putting on a show?

Yankees edge the Mets 6-3 today. New York now has a 9-9 record this Spring.
