Has anyone been a fan of the Yankees for a long time but never thought about how New York acquired there logo? If you are ever visiting Yankee Stadium go to monument park. There is a plaque that explains how they got it.
"This insignia was originally struck on a medal of honor in 1877 by Tiffany & Co. It was issued to the first New York police officer shot in the line of duty. The New York Yankees adopted this logo and it became part part of the uniform in 1909."I've been a fan of New York since I was first introduced to baseball a long time ago. I never really had the thought to even look into how they came up with the logo until now. This is one of the most interesting things I have come across about the Yankees. As a fan it's always a good thing to brush up on your history about your favorite team. You never know it might come in handy one day.
